Emine Erdogan calls on Melania Trump to raise the issue of Gaza children
![]() 1141 Saturday, 23 August, 2025, 19:30 Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan has sent a letter to US President Donald Trump's wife, Melania Trump, urging her to contact the Israeli prime minister and "raise the plight of children in Gaza," Reuters reported, citing sources in Ankara. Emine Erdogan said she was inspired by Melania Trump's letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin about children in Ukraine and Russia. "I believe that the important care you have shown for 648 Ukrainian children... will also extend to Gaza. I believe that your appeal on behalf of Gaza will serve to assume a historic responsibility to the Palestinian people," Emine Erdogan's letter said. |
