Argentine President Javier Tebas abruptly halted his campaign rally in the city of Lomas de Zamora after protesters threw rocks and bottles at his motorcade.
Tebas greeted residents of the city in an open-topped car. At that moment, clashes broke out between his supporters, police and protesters, during which stones and other objects were thrown at the president's car. The security service decided to urgently evacuate him from the scene.
According to presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni, no one was injured in the incident. He blamed supporters of former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner for the unrest.
The campaign was held for the legislative elections of the Buenos Aires province, which are scheduled for September 7.
