Washington Post: Rubio to discuss, with Russians, details of Trump-Putin meeting next week

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will discuss, with Russian officials, the agenda of the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, scheduled to take place in Budapest next week, The Washington Post (WP) columnist David Ignatius reported, citing his own sources.
The White House’s strategy is for Secretary of State Marco Rubio to meet with Russian officials next week to discuss the agenda of the Budapest summit, explained a source close to the negotiations, according to WP.
Ignatius noted that Rubio may offer Russia various economic incentives that would follow a future peace agreement to settle the conflict in Ukraine.
At the same time, the American side plans to supply Kyiv with longer-range weapons and use the threat of tougher sanctions on Moscow as leverage.
