The mayor of Gaza’s southern city of Khan Younis says Israeli attacks across the enclave have wiped out much of its vegetation and made it difficult to access landfills for proper waste disposal.
Speaking to Al Jazeera Arabic, Mayor Alaa al-Batta said more than 90 percent of Gaza’s vegetation has been decimated.
“We are facing a real catastrophe that results in the spread of diseases and epidemics,” he added.
