Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Director of the Las Casas Institute for Social Justice

On October 29, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Dr. Hugo Slim, Director of the Las Casas Institute for Social Justice and Senior Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the Armenian Church’s spiritual and pastoral mission; its role in preserving Armenian national identity; the protection of the rights of Armenians forcibly displaced from Artsakh and the social challenges they face; and efforts to preserve Artsakh's Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage.

The meeting emphasized the importance of cooperation among Christian Churches, the academic community, and humanitarian organizations in protecting human rights and promoting social justice.

During the discussion, the two sides also exchanged views on expanding cooperation between Blackfriars Hall and the Armenian Diocese of Great Britain and Ireland, organizing academic research into the rights of Armenians from Artsakh and the preservation of Armenian heritage, and holding academic conferences in Oxford. Opportunities for clergy to pursue studies and conduct research at Blackfriars Hall were also discussed.
