Earlier today, the ambassadors of the European Union countries approved the decision regarding the EU civilian mission in Armenia in Brussels, according to RFE/RL. According to the source, the European Union has kept the mission's mandate unchanged, first established two years ago. The mission aims to reduce incidents in Armenia's border and conflict-affected regions, lower the risk for populations living in these areas, and contribute to the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations on the ground. The composition and number of observers, according to the draft decision, will remain the same: 165 international observers and 44 Armenian staff. The decision must also be approved by the EU foreign ministers in the near future. |
