German Defense Minister arrives in Kyiv on unannounced visit
![]() 413 Thursday, 12 June, 2025, 12:10 German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius arrived in Kyiv on Thursday for an unannounced visit. TASS informs that Pistorius intends to assess the situation on the ground and discuss the provision of new military aid with Ukraine’s leadership. "We are doing everything to support Ukraine in such a way that it can defend itself and be in a position where Russia would be ready for serious negotiations," Pistorius stated. "Of course, we will also talk about what future support from Germany and other Europeans might look like—what we can do, for example, in terms of industrial cooperation, as well as other forms of assistance," he added. Germany is the second-largest supplier of weapons to Ukraine after the United States. Since the beginning of the conflict, Germany has provided Ukraine with various forms of assistance totaling more than €40 billion. The Russian side has repeatedly stated that arming the Kyiv regime only prolongs the conflict. |
