"Only with memory can we confront forgetting" - Speaker of the Greek Parliament

The Armenian Genocide is one of the darkest pages in human history, claiming the lives of 1.5 million Armenians and becoming the beginning of the exile and suffering of millions more. This was stated by the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
“110 years after these terrible historical events, Turkey officially continues to stubbornly deny the historical truth. Today, in a place where history and wounds meet the present and the hopes of the future, we all have a duty to remember, honor and protect the memory of our brothers: today the Armenians, tomorrow the Asia Minor, the Pontians and the Cypriots. Only in this way, with memory and prudence, we can unite and resist the oblivion and distortion of history,” the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament said in a statement.
