Members of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) unanimously decided to remove Russia from the further development of the organization’s activities.

“It’s very unfortunate that Russia has kept history when we, the other 11 sensors, sustainable cooperation with Russia is no longer possible within the CBSS. Russia is one of the Council’s co-founders and has played an active role so far,” said Norwegian Foreign Minister Annick Huitfeldt.

The suspension of RF participation will remain in effect until “until cooperation is resumed on the basis of the fundamental mechanisms of international law“.

Besides, Belarushaving observer status in the CBSS was also excluded from participation in the activities of the organization due to the role of the state in the attack on Ukraine.

We add that today the CBSS includes Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the European Union. There is also an observer status here in Ukraine.
