"Confirmed! Mistral short-range air defense systems and missiles provided by Estonia have been delivered to Ukraine as we continue to support Ukrainians, uniting to stop Russian aggression," the Estonian Ministry of Defense reported on X on July 6.
In June, Estonia announced a military aid package for Ukraine, which included Mistral short-range air defense systems and missiles, but the exact number of weapons was not disclosed for security reasons.The Mistral was developed by the French company MBDA, and in 1987 it was adopted by the French Army. In 2000, a modernized model was developed - Mistral 2, and later Mistral 3. They have been adopted by about 25 countries in Europe and around the world, including Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Spain, and others. In total, more than 15 thousand missiles were produced.
