North Korea fired what could be an intermediate-range ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan, the South Korean military said Monday.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missile was launched from the Pyongyang area around noon.
Japan's Defense Ministry said the projectile has already fallen. It apparently fell outside Japan's exclusive economic zone, a government source said, adding no damage was reported.
