#Bloomberg։ "EU leaders fail to agree on €5 billion in aid for Ukraine"

At the March 20 summit, EU leaders agreed to continue supporting Ukraine, but failed to agree on providing Kiev with five billion euros in military aid, Bloomberg reported, citing diplomatic sources.
According to the media outlet, although the proposal was supported by almost all EU members (except Hungary), France and Italy said they needed more time to study the financial and technical details.
At the same time, Italian diplomats stressed that Rome was not completely abandoning the initiative. French representatives declined to comment.
European diplomacy chief Kaia Kallas initially proposed allocating 20-40 billion euros to Ukraine by the end of 2025. Italy, France, Spain and Portugal opposed the plan, after which it was decided to consider allocating five billion to purchase large-caliber ammunition worth up to two million euros.
It is assumed that the new aid to Ukraine will be officially provided not on behalf of the EU, but within the framework of the coalition of "willing" countries of the union, in the background of the position of Hungary, which promised to veto the allocation of aid from EU funds.
