Earlier, the National Security Service stated that the criminal proceedings concerning Sargsyan had been transferred to the Investigative Committee based on jurisdiction. No further details have been disclosed. Armen Sargsyan served as Armenia’s president from 2018 to 2022. On January 23, 2022, he resigned, stating that the president lacked the necessary tools to influence internal and external political processes during challenging times for the country and the nation. The next day, ”Hetq” reported that before being elected president, Sargsyan had held citizenship of Saint Kitts and Nevis, which made him ineligible for the position. According to the publication, he obtained this citizenship through an investment of $500,000. |
