![]() 609 Tuesday, 15 April, 2025, 13:27 Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has asked Verkhovna Rada, the nation's parliament, to extend the martial law in the country for another 90 days, starting at 5:30 a.m. on May 9, Ukrainian media said on Tuesday, citing the parliament's website. The Ukrainian authorities have banned elections during martial law. The Rada is expected to consider these bills in the near future. Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk earlier said that the bills would be approved. As MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak explained in his Telegram channel, martial law and general mobilization will be extended until August 6. Over the past few weeks, the Ukrainian media has been circulating the opinion that, given the ongoing negotiations on the settlement of the conflict with the participation of the United States, martial law and general mobilization will not be extended. Possible dates for presidential and parliamentary elections were even mentioned. |
