Rubio: "Iran should not deny US inspectors access to its nuclear facilities"
![]() 750 Friday, 02 May, 2025, 16:45 U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Iran must completely halt uranium enrichment and grant American inspectors access to all nuclear sites. He said that Iran should not fear nuclear inspections if its program is truly peaceful. "If you're not building a bomb, you shouldn't be afraid of inspections - including by Americans," he said. "If Iran wants peaceful nuclear energy, it should import fuel like dozens of other countries do," Rubio added. "There's no reason for enrichment unless you want a weapon." The Secretary dismissed the relevance of enrichment levels, asserting that once Iran is able to enrich uranium to 3.67 percent, it can reach weapons-grade levels within weeks. Rubio demanded that any nuclear deal include full access for both American and international inspectors to all Iranian facilities, including civilian and military sites. He also said Iran must stop supporting proxy groups like the Houthis and cease the development of long-range missiles. "They have to walk away from enrichment, terrorism, and long-range missiles," Rubio said. |
