Pakistan's Prime Minister addresses his people

In his evening address to the nation, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned that his country would do everything possible to defend itself if “its independence is challenged.”
Shehbaz said his government would demand an investigation into the causes of the crisis in the region and would not tolerate “baseless allegations” being made against Pakistan.
He recalled that it was Pakistan that was attacked, resulting in “mosques being destroyed and innocent people being killed.”
“We followed our principles and we succeeded. The entire Pakistani nation succeeded, we won,” Sharif said, explaining the actions of the Pakistani army.
For his part, Indian Foreign Minister Vikram Misri said that in the last few hours, Pakistan had repeatedly violated the understanding that the two sides had reached earlier on Saturday.
Misri warned that India's military was ready to "respond accordingly" and called on Pakistan to address its violations.
Pakistan has yet to comment on Misri's statement.
BBC correspondents on the ground have reported explosions in Indian-controlled Kashmir in recent hours.
