Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture has denied media reports alleging that the country is being used as a transit route for the re-export of Armenian agricultural products, including strawberries, to Russia.

“The ministry categorically rejects the information disseminated by the Armenian publication regarding the change of origin of Armenian products and the import of goods into the territory of the Russian Federation under the name of another neighbouring country for the purpose of re-export,” the statement said, as published on Facebook.

The ministry said such reports are speculative, do not correspond to reality, and may harm economic relations between the two countries.

It expressed concern that Georgia is being drawn into political disputes between other states.
