#Coronavirus: Italy to jail sufferers violating quarantine
![]() 1301 Wednesday, 25 March, 2020, 17:25 Italy has announced possible jail time for coronavirus victims who violate quarantine. According to CNN, this development has occurred in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus in the country. Reports from Johns Hopkins University reveal that, Italy has recorded nearly 70,000 cases and almost 7,000 deaths. As part of the government effort to curtail the spread of the pandemic it has made public new strict punishments which was published late Tuesday night. The punishments are: Those who have tested positive and do not stay home could face one to five years in prison. Fines for violating quarantine rise from 400 euros ($430) to 3,000 euros ($3,245). |
