Protesters storm Netanyahu's party headquarters

An anti-government protest in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv ended in riots, the press service of the Israeli police reported.

A total of 62 people were detained for violating public order.

Demonstrators gathered in the evening of May 28 near the local headquarters of the Likud party led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the center of Tel Aviv.

The Times of Israel writes that the participants of the protest demanded the immediate release of all the kidnapped people, opposing Netanyahu's attitude to the negotiations on the hostages.

Later, the protesters blocked traffic on the streets adjacent to the Likud building, attempted to light fires, and clashed with law enforcement officers.

A group of demonstrators managed to enter the building and attempted to set up barricades there.

The police declared the action, which turned into a riot, illegal, forcibly removed all protesters from the streets, and dispersed the rally.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two police officers were injured during the dispersal of the crowd.
