Sony PlayStation Suspends Software and Hardware Sales in Russia
![]() 1871 Thursday, 10 March, 2022, 01:12 Sony has shared a statement with IGN saying that it will be suspending all software and hardware sales in Russia due to its recent and ongoing invasion of Ukraine. "Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) joins the global community in calling for peace in Ukraine," the statement reads. "We have suspended all software and hardware shipments, the launch of Gran Turismo 7, and operations of the PlayStation Store in Russia. To support humanitarian aid, Sony Group Corporation announced a US$2 million donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the international NGO, Save the Children, to support the victims of this tragedy." Sony joins numerous other gaming companies denouncing the invasion and pulling sales from Russia and, in some cases, neighboring Russian ally Belarus. Epic Games, CD Projekt Red, EA, Microsoft, Take-Two, Ubisoft, and plenty more have announced similar suspensions in the last week. Nintendo has also delayed Advanced Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp due to the war. |
