#WHO Chief: #Coronavirus infections could reach 10M next week
![]() 1745 Thursday, 25 June, 2020, 17:25 World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the number of coronavirus cases throughout the world could reach 10 million next week, a sharp increase from the 9.3 million cases currently reported. Latin America has emerged as the world’s newest epicenter for COVID-19 with the regional death toll surpassing 100,000 with more than half in Brazil – nearly 54,000, according to Johns Hopkins University. The United States, however, continues to lead the world in infections with more than 2.3 million, about one-fourth of all cases worldwide. The U.S. also continues to be the leader in COVID-19 fatalities, with more than 121,000. |
