![]() 10564 Friday, 21 February, 2025, 11:20 Shi Zhengli, the Chinese scientist infamous for research that’s suspected to have caused the Covid-19 pandemic, has led a study that has found a new coronavirus that works similar to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19 disease. According to the South China Morning Post, the new type of coronavirus HKU5 was first detected in Hong Kong. The study was conducted by a group of virologists, including specialists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is noted that "the risk of HKU5-CoV-2 appearing in human populations should not be exaggerated." But experts said that additional research is needed. Earlier, it became known that the COVID-19 pandemic in the world could have begun after the virus leaked from a laboratory in China, which is the version that the US Central Intelligence Agency is leaning towards. |
