The collection of the Metsamor museum consists of about 28.000 artefacts, 8.500 of which are on display in the main exhibition. It covers the Chalcolithic (Copper Stone) era, which lasted from the 5-4th mil BC to the 17-18 th centuries AD- (Late Middle Ages).
Unique luxury artefacts made of gold, tin, silver, amber, cornelian, paste are on desplay in a special underground exhibition hall. At the ancient site of Metsamor was found the oldest gold jewelry known on the territory of Armenia, which is displayed in the special hall of the museum.
The new exhibition of Metsamor Gold Hall will be opened on December 15 in parallel with the conference held in "Metsamor" Historical-Archaeological Reserve-Museum.
