A few days ago, I was present at an event prepared by students in one of Stepanakert's kindergartens on the occasion of Holy Easter. My interactions with these children not only gave me an infinite feeling of happiness and energy, but also deepened my sense of responsibility to ensure their peaceful childhood and bright future.
Every day of the blockade is a struggle for existence for the Armenians of Artsakh, and in this situation, the events and statements made in the National Assembly of Armenia in recent days have a shocking effect. It is sad to see how the ruling power and the opposition blamed each other with great enthusiasm, yet no one spoke about Artsakh: no one spoke about what we will do so that 120 thousand Artsakh Armenians, including 30 thousand children, have the opportunity to live in their homeland.
Today's situation is very clear: either we fight, which implies very difficult decisions, or we submit, which means that we lose our national dignity, we lose our homeland. I understand that the choice is very difficult, but both the Prime Minister of Armenia, the ruling party, as well as the opposition must understand one thing: if we continue to look for culprits and blame each other, we will remain on a path with no future.
Now, we are living in the reality of a national war, which means that we need a clearly developed plan and actions to overcome these challenges. We only envision one way: to unite around the idea of protecting Artsakh, of keeping Artsakh Armenian. That struggle will require hard — extremely hard — work, but there is no other way, because any other way is unacceptable in order for us to remain Armenian.
I can't imagine how we will live if we lose Artsakh. I simply want to address everyone: the government, the opposition, the present leaders, the former leaders — everyone. If we lose Artsakh, it will not be forgiven; it will become a stain — and I promise, I will ensure that you, your children, and your grandchildren will receive the pictures of the children of Artsakh every day, so that you will always remember that their pain, their ruined childhood is the result of your inaction or wrong steps.
But I am sure that we will not allow that to happen. At any cost, by any means, we are obliged to hand over to future generations an Armenian Artsakh, a strong Armenian state, and a united Armenian world. It is the duty and responsibility of each of us, regardless of where we live: here in Artsakh, in Armenia, or in the Armenian world. This does not release us from the responsibility of fighting for Artsakh.
